William McEwan opened Fountain Brewery on the outskirts of Edinburgh in 1857.
The McEWAN’S EXPORT BEER MAT COASTERS measure 3 1/2” x 4 1/4”. The iconic McEwan’s Export Logo of the "Laughing Cavalier” was inspired by the well-known Frans Hals painting and featured both sides of the Beer Mats. They are made in Edinburgh, Scotland.
McEWAN’s EXPORT, NEWCASTLE & Wm YOUNGER’S KEG BEERS are written around this ashtray. McEwan’s Scottish Brewers drew heavily from imagery of the British Empire in its branding and advertising.
The light blue color of this fine McEwan’s Export Ashtray is very attractive. The ashtray measures 5 1/2” in diameter. The ashtray is new in appearance with no chips, cracks or breaks and very good paint with no visible scratches!
