1965 Plymouth Satellite 2 Door Coupe, All Original with Numbers Matching For Sale in Salina, KS 67401
1965 Plymouth Satellite Special Order Gold Metallic/Ivory 426 High Performance Commando Automatic Car in excellent condition.  Work completed in 2020-21 included new paint (see the awesome deep reflections in the pictures) and new interior.  Less than 100 miles on the rebuilt drivetrain and new exhaust.   This is a chance to grab an ultra-rare car!
Attached photos include car record card, Production Record decode, block date code, fender tag and Chrysler research tell the story:
·        23,314 Satellites were produced in 1965
·        265 with the 426 High Performance Commando Motor and Automatic Transmissions
·        15 different paint colors and 13 two-tone paint-vinyl top offerings as special options. Gold Metallic paint with an Ivory Vinyl top was how this beauty was ordered.
Other options included the left remote mirror and 3-speed wipers.
Chrysler does not have production records showing the rarity beyond the 1 of 265 based on the motor and transmission.  So is it 1 of 1, no one may ever know.
The mid 60’s were exciting times for the Mopar line at the local drag strips.  In the race for power, the Dodge Max Wedge lead the way and was followed with the advent of the426 Hemi. Cars like this Satellite were snatched up at local dealerships as a weekly commuter, then turned into a S/SA drag car for some Saturday fun!  This car sold through University Plymouth in Detroit, who were the sponsoring dealership for Bill Shirley’s “The Professor”.  Another Detroit dealership, Hamilton Motors, sponsored the famous “Golden Commando” team and when they did not have enough cars, it is believed that University helped out.  Perhaps this car was in one of those stables challenging the “Yankee Peddler” or the “Bounty Hunter”, or it could have been the typical worker by day and knuckle busting, wrench turning victory on Saturday dreaming person of the 1960’s muscle car wars.  This car was said
to have been purchased and then immediately fitted with a 426 Hemi, as well as
fender well headers and a traditional fast cut hood scoop, by the actual prior owner.
After a short time, as a S/SA car, the original motor, exhaust and hood were reinstalled and it served the rest of its life as a daily driver, like many of the one-year productions to the track to the street muscle car cars of the 60s.  We did not fully repair the fender well header cut-outs, leaving so that the next owner could enjoy that history.
Prior due diligence gave us comfort with the history and decoding of the car, the options and the resulting rarity of the car.  We encourage each potential buyer to do the same!
Vehicle is sold with no implied warranties.  If the winning bidder would like the car repainted in Gold Metallic and have an Ivory vinyl top installed, we would be happy to quote that after the purchase.
The looks, style and torque of these cars rivaled other classic muscle like the Camaro, Nova, Mustang, GTO, Charger, Challenger!
