    1949 FUNK, 2486 TT, 0-235 LYCOMING CONVERSION, HARD LANDING TO LEFT GEAR, CLOSE TO PERFECT!
    THE FUNK IS NOT A CUB, NOT A CHAMP.  THOSE ARE HIGH PRODUCTION, PEDESTRIAN AIRPLANES!
    THE FUNK, ALTHOUGH A CONTEMPORARY, IS A LIMITED PRODUCTION AIRPLANE, AIMED ABOVE THE CUB IN THE MARKETPLACE WHEN NEW!
    PAPERWORK INCLUDED WITH THE LOGBOOKS (THERE ARE TONS), INCLUDE PILOT REPORTS, HISTORY OF THE FUNK BROTHERS AND THEIR AIRCRAFT, OWNERSHIP HISTORY OF THIS AND MANY OTHER SERIAL NUMBERED FUNKS, ETC., ETC., ETC.!
    THE POST-WAR FUNKS WERE ALL BUILT WITH THE C-85 CONTINENTAL ENGINE, AS WAS THIS ONE.
    IN 1958, THE OWNER GOT AUTHORIZATION TO INSTALL THE LYCOMING 0-235 C, 100 H.P. ENGINE, WHICH STARTED THE BALL ROLLING!
    OVER THE YEARS, SUBSEQUENT OWNERS HAVE RECEIVED PERMISSION TO UPGRADE THE ENGINE, FIRST TO THE 0-235C1, WHICH HAS 108 H.P. AND FINALLY TO THE O-235C2C, THE FINAL VERSION OF THE 0-235C SERIES, WHICH PRODUCES 115 H.P. !
    ALL FULLY DOCUMENTED AND SUPPLIED WITH 337’S, LETTERS WITH THE FAA, ETC.
    IT IS VERY SAFE TO SAY THAT THIS IS THE ONLY FUNK EQUIPPED WITH THIS LATE MODEL ENGINE, WHICH IS A STRAIGHT MOUNT VERSION OF THE L2C USED IN THE 152.  IN FACT, THIS MOST RECENT INSTALLATION USES A 152 EXHAUST SYSTEM!
    OTHER MODS ARE TO MODERN CLEVELAND WHEELS AND BRAKES, SHOULDER HARNESSES, WINGTIP STROBES AUTO FUEL APPROVAL, ETC.
    FABRIC ON THE WHOLE AIRFRAME WAS RECENTLY (2006) UPGRADED TO CECONITE.
    THE YELLOW AND RED PAINT SCHEME SEEMS TO BE A FUNK TRAIT, AS THE COVER PLANE FROM THE 1995 EAA VINTAGE AIRPLANE MAGAZINE (IN MINT CONDITION, AMONG THE PAPERWORK) LOOKS JUST LIKE THIS PLANE!  THAT AIRPLANE, THE LAST BUILT ON THE FUNK ASSEMBLY LINE, WAS SERIAL NUMBER 438.  OUR FUNK IS SERIAL NUMBER 434.
    THE FUNK GENEOLOGY, AS FOUND IN ONE OF THE ISSUES OF THE FUNK FLYER NEWSLETTER (LOTS OF ISSUES IN THE INCLUDED PAPERWORK) SHOWS THAT THE FUNK BROTHERS RETAINED MY AIRCRAFT, SERIAL NUMBER 434, FOR THEMSELVES  AFTER PRODUCTION SHUT DOWN IN 1948.
    A RELENTLESS BUYER WHO HAD TO HAVE A NEW FUNK CONTINUED TO INCREASE HIS OFFER UNTIL THE BROTHERS FINALLY SOLD THIS AIRPLANE TO HIM IN 1949, HENCE THIS IS THE ONLY FUNK REGISTERED AS A 1949!
    LAST ANNUAL JUST EXPIRED 4/1/2021, SO THIS AIRPLANE IS FRESH, NOT A SITTER.
    A FIRM LANDING HAS RESULTED IN THE LEFT SIDE OF THE AIRPLANE SITTING LOW, AS SHOWN IN THE INCLUDED PHOTOS.  IT IS NOT CLEAR WHAT WAS BENT, AS THERE IS NO OBVIOUS FUSELAGE WRINKLING, NOR OBVIOUS GEAR LEG DEFORMATION.  PERHAPS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE BUNGEE CORDS.  IT WOULD NOT APPEAR THAT THERE IS ANY SERIOUS DEFORMATION, AND YOU CAN SEE THERE IS NO FIREWALL DEFORMATION AT ALL.
    NO DAMAGE TO THE WINGS OR TAIL.
    THE SPECIAL GROUND CASTORING TAILWHEEL APPEARS UNDAMAGED AS WELL.
    THERE IS A  PIECE OF PLEXIGLASS ADDED ABOVE THE WINDSHIELD ON THIS AIRPLANE (NOT A STOCK PIECE).  This piece of plain flat Plexiglas (not molded) popped out on the landing and will require replacement.
    THE 0-235 ENGINE HAS BEEN REMOVED AS IT WAS BEYOND TBO.  THE EXHAUST SYSTEM (UNDAMAGED), AIRBOX ASSEMBLY (UNDAMAGED) AND ENGINE MOUNT (UNDAMAGED) ARE ALL INCLUDED, AS ARE THE PAPERWORK TO REINSTALL EITHER A 235- C, C1 OR C2C!
    THIS AIRCRAFT IS IN VERY GOOD TO EXCELLENT CONDITION, WITH A REPAIRABLE ISOLATED FLAW.
    IT WILL TAKE A PLACE OF INTEREST AND HONOR IN YOUR HANGER AND YOUR FLYING FAMILY.
